The Wine Country Film Festival will present, for the first time ever in its 25-year history, the Santa Rosa International Film Festival, September 14 through 20. This week-long celebration of cinema will feature more than 100 films from around the world at Santa Rosa's Summerfield Cinemas, Third Street Cinema and The Roxy 14.

Additional films will be screened at Deerfield Ranch Winery in Kenwood, both outdoors and in the Grand Room, located within a cave at the winery. The festival offers six levels of passes, some of which include entry to culinary events, special screenings, master classes and VIP receptions with filmmakers and celebrities. The California State Board of Equalization announced that voters have approved a new sales tax increase that begins April 1, 2011.  Sonoma County and other residents will be paying the new rate of  9.5%.  California residents should plan to see these taxes also appear on all on-line purchase that are shipped within the state.

The winter storms across the country have seen everyone huddled inside trying to stay out of the weather!  Perhaps you have had a chance to make those repairs and modifications to your hobby kits.  The flooding has not been bad (yet) this year so we don't have to wait to hit the field with remotely operated automobiles and aircraft.

We will be trying to secure a spot to do just that and perhaps hold competitions once everything is in place.  Look for more news and developments on this location soon!

Anthony and Jonathan Bergland have opened their doors at the former Levitz building on the Hiway 101 corridor near Wilfred Avenue and  Redwood Drive in Rohnert Park.  Get your team together, your gear on and suit up to shoot it out in their "urban" paintball field or out in the open field play area.  They are also offering camps for "all" ages for those who wish to join in the fun!  You must be 10 years or over to participate, however.  Group rates are available.  Check out their site at; www.escapesonomacounty.com and look for their Air Soft field coming soon and their Q-Zar Laser Tag expansion coming in just a few months!

Due to low turn out at the Redwood Empire RC Groundpounders event yesterday, we decided to pull the promotion so that more people would have the opportunity to win a prize for qualifying for the main events.  We will try to put something together for August.

June saw the Sonoma area put on the map when Jake's Perfomance Hobbies in Rohnert Park set a Guiness World Record for it's class of R/C Electric Cars of more than 93 MPH.

We are working dilligently on getting the webstore open and gathering content for the web magazine.  We are always searching for new sources of  family entertainment to bring together here as a one stop source for Sonoma County residents.

We are forming new alliances and strategic partnerships and changing direction a bit as we ramp up for a physical retail location in Rohnert Park.

We'll be giving away prizes to all of the qualifiers so be sure to sign up to race at the July 3rd, Redwood Empire R/C Groundpounders Club surface points standing race events to be a Night Under the Lights as they take the event to the late evening hours in the parking lot North of Driven Raceway in Rohnert Park.  Also, congratulations to Driven Raceway on their planned expansion to Fairfield!!!

Be sure to look for updates on upcoming events at Escape Sonoma County, which will be open soon in Rohnert Park for all you paintball fans!  Power Play!

It was a gorgeous day for racing as the crowd took to the parking lot on the North side of Driven Raceway in Rohnert Park.  Look for the feature story coming in June on the Redwood Empire Groundpounders Club, the hottest North Bay racing club around!

They set-up the first Sunday of every month for racing and have their meetings at Round Table Pizza on Steele Lane in Santa Rosa on the third Tuesday of each month.  You will soon be able to find links to their site and many other local clubs on here www.powerplayhobby.com and you can find todays' photos in the Clips section.

I attended the Santa Rosa Economic Development Groth and Innovation Forum on Wednesday and was able to meet many of the local entrepreneurs and investment groups.  I got several good ideas and a few leads to advance plans for the RC park.

We are still on track for opening the online retail site in June.
